On November 5th, 2021 CITA (Community Impact Through Art) put on its first volunteer event, Starry Night Lights at Silvermark Senior Home in Plano, TX. Prior to our volunteer event, volunteers assembled and decorated a Starry Night Light Lantern which they brought to our in-person volunteer event. At Silvermark, volunteers worked individually or with a group to help Silvermark’s residents create their own paper lanterns. We also provided each senior resident with their own mini-canvases which they could decorate and take to their rooms.
Our volunteers had a great time talking with residents! Nishi and Macy from our Executive Leadership Team had a great time with resident Rex who told the girls all about his life as a musician when he was younger. After creating lanterns with each resident, volunteers hung up their lanterns on a light for residents to enjoy during activity nights!
