Varsha Kumar

Officer of Design

Varsha has been interested in art since being a baby, messing around with paint and markers. Her true passion for art only truly began in elementary school where drawing for fun evoked a strong desire to improve, which led her to use birthdays as an excuse to buy manga-styled instructional drawing books. Gradually, she moved from this style to realism with the help of art classes inside and outside school. She continues to take art classes, even planning on taking AP Art: 2D Design in the 2023 - 2024 school year, and enjoys spending her free time sketching.

Aside from her passion for art, Varsha has a strong passion for working toward fighting societal issues. Learning about segregation and Martin Luther King Jr.’s peaceful methods of fighting injustice were eye-opening for Varsha. Though lots of progress has been made, racism and various other serious issues are still prevalent today. Her exposure to learning about racism, along with her own personal experiences, evoked a fire in her which encouraged her to learn about various other justice issues society faces today, such as homelessness, poverty, the healthcare system, and - unfortunately - much more.

When Varsha heard about CITA, she immediately lunged for the opportunity to take part in it in order to combine her two passions to make a positive impact on communities. As a founding member of the Plano West branch of CITA, Varsha believes she can use her knowledge in art, experience in volunteer work, and desire to help others to impact communities for the better.
